For John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, the only thing scarier than shooting their new thriller, A Quiet Place, was the thought of working together.
The Hollywood married actors, who’ve been together for a decade, have both said they were nervous to team up for the first time in A Quiet Place movie, which Krasinski also directed and co-wrote the script.
The nail-biting thriller follows a family forced to stay silent in order to protect themselves against mysterious creatures that hunt their prey through the use of sound.
After reading the script and talking with Krasinski about it and encouraging him to direct it, she suddenly felt a connection to the story.
“I had this overwhelming feeling of ‘I don’t want anybody else to play this part,” Blunt told Vanity Fair. “I felt completely sure about it in a way I hadn’t before,” she says. “It was a film that represented some of my deepest fears—of not being able to protect my children.”
For Krasinksi, working with his wife was a dream. “The air changes in the room when she starts doing what she does,” he told Time. “It’s so honest and so pure and so powerful. It’s like a superpower that she can just unlock and do so specifically with not many attempts. For me, I love acting, and I’m so lucky to be doing it. But she’s on another plane. This weird intersection happened while filming where I totally forgot I was her husband. I was just watching her performance and was lucky enough to be in the front row.”

A Quiet Place movie opens in theatres on April 6, and also stars Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds.
