Want soft, smoother skin? The SonoPeel Ultrasonic Microdermabrasion from SpaMedica will instantly get your skin in tip-top shape again.
When the word “peel” comes to mind many women conjure up that frightening image of Sex and the City’s Samantha Jones’ burnt face in the episode where Carrie Bradshaw has her first book launch. She had a “peel” that day, she said in the episode, because she wanted to be “refreshed,” for the party. Needless to say, it wasn’t pretty.
The power of this episode, with Samantha’s hideously red skin, still resonates with women to this day. In fact, just recently, when I mentioned to a friend that I was undergoing a SonoPeel, she immediately said, “Oooh, is it going to be the one like Samantha’s?”
“No, it’s not a chemical peel,” I responded. “Not all peels are the same and they’ve come a long way.”
In fact, the SonoPeel I recently had at Toronto’s SpaMedica is one of the best treatments I’ve ever had. Not only was it a relaxing and comfortable experience, my skin was transformed. I couldn’t stop touching it all day. Yes, it’s that good.
Why get one? Over time, our skin becomes damaged by free radicals from pollution and other environmental factors, causing it to become dull, rough and subject to premature aging. Dead skin cells begin to block pores causing poor oxygenation and lack of hydration.
The SonoPeel Ultrasonic Microdermabrasion (SonoPeel)—developed and patented by world-renowned cosmetic surgeon Dr. Stephen Mulholland—helps to solve these problems almost immediately. It provides both deep peeling and regeneration of the skin. It not only peels away dead skin, but also infuses treatment products into your skin throughout the process. When skin is clean and dead skin cells are removed, products and treatments can easily be absorbed in the dermis, giving it the nutrients it craves to become healthy and hydrated.
How does it work? The SonoPeel is a state of the art treatment that transmits high speed vibrations to the skin with, what I describe as, a handheld spatula-like device that gently scrapes away underlying tissue and dead skin cells from the skin’s surface.
Personally, my skin had become dry and flaky after a trip to sunny Florida and was in desperate need of some tender loving care. When I entered the treatment room at SpaMedica, I slipped myself into a comfortable pod-like chamber, which massaged my body with vibrations. Once totally relaxed to the sounds of nature, the medical esthetician applied a cream to my skin to help with the exfoliation.
Once my skin was washed, the esthetician began the procedure, which involved using a continuous stream of purified water and Ultrasonic waves to gently remove surface debris and liquefy the contents of my pores, making them clear again.
As the esthetician began the gentle scraping action (which can be compared to the feeling of passing a paper’s edge against your skin) against the surface of my skin (two passes over the entire face), I actually began to feel my face become lighter.
When completed (procedure takes about 30 minutes), products were applied to my face, according to my needs, to help soothe and hydrate. An SPF 50 cream was also applied. The flaking and dryness I had when I walked into SpaMedica instantly disappeared and my face felt soft, smooth and light.
It’s important to note that there is no downtime with the SonoPeel. My skin looked normal post procedure, but I’m told from the staff that some may experience a light flush or tightness up to 24 hrs after.
For maximum results, SpaMedica suggests undergoing four to 12 treatments.
