Brad Pitt and cast for the awards-buzzed TIFF13 movie, 12 Years a Slave, talk about filming this passion project in which Pitt admits if he never worked again, he’d go out with a bang with this movie.
Brad Pitt surprised fans by making an appearance for his movie 12 Years a Slave during the film’s screening at the Princess of Wales theatre in Toronto.
Chiwetel Ejiofor stars in the much-hyped drama, based on true events, as a free man who was kidnapped and sold into slavery in the Deep South.
After the film’s premiere was received by a standing ovation, the cast took to the stage to answer audience questions. When Steve McQueen was asked what inspired him to bring this story to life on the screen, the British director simply stated that it was a story that needed to be told.
“I just wanted to see that history, that story on film,” Mr. McQueen said. “It’s that simple.”
12 Years a Slave opens in theaters on January 18, 2014 and stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Dano, Garret Dillahunt, Paul Giamatti, Scoot McNairy, Lupita Nyong’o, Adepero Oduye, Sarah Paulson, Brad Pitt, Michael Kenneth Williams and Alfre Woodard.
