In general, this year’s Oscar affair wasn’t a great spectacle of fashion.
I think too many stars have taken the “didn’t look like I did anything to get ready” a little too literally. But some stars nailed it when it came to their hair and makeup.
Here are my favourite beauty looks from this year’s Oscars red carpet extravaganza.
Peachy Keen. Sometimes you just have to let it flow. The always gorgeous Jessica Chastain looked stunning with her strawberry locks half up and half down. It was not too done, and perfectly complemented her Alexander McQueen gown.
Although, I don’t like the severity of her hair (she needs to ditch the Lisbeth Salander look and lighten things up) but this is how you do a red lip right. Her fair, snow white skin is sheer perfection for this look. Keeping the eye makeup at a minimum is key to nailing a red lip. Nothing should compete with it.
The star of The Artist went with a beautiful braid in her hair. Adding a braid to a chic chignon adds texture to hair and makes it more interesting. Way to go Bernice. No doubt we’ll see more of her beauty on the red carpet.
Emma Stone is becoming the one to watch on the red carpet. Although the bow on her dress was a bit too distracting, the young star looked like a true red carpet beauty. Her hair was softly swept to the side and pulled together in a soft side bun. Fabulous.
Not many got a glimpse of Natalie Portman until she hit the stage to present the award for Best Actor. The Oscar winner perfected the naturally nude look that complemented her, well, natural beauty. The look is a nod to old Hollywood glam to go with her gorgeous vintage ’50s Christian Dior dress.
